When editing your paper, check each sentence for correct structure first by identifying conjuctions and clauses.  Next, check the verbs for correct tense and form.  Do you need the present tense for habitual action or is it an action that started in the past and continues in the present that requires the present perfect or present perfect progressive? Does your sentence start with a base form verb as its subject (study)?  Try a gerund in its place (studying).

General Study Tips

When reading textbooks, read the questions at the end of the chapter first.  Identify the key vocabulary and concepts in the questions.  Make note of these in your notebook.  Preview the chapter by locating these terms and reading those paragraphs.  Try to answer the questions as you read.  When you read the chapter, you will have a better understanding of the key concepts discussed.
